miRNA-dependent regulation gene expression by lncRNAs.

The number of intergenic long noncoding RNA (lncRNAs) annotated in the human genome is at least 2 times that of protein-coding genes yet the function of less than 1% of these transcripts is currently known. The main focus of work in my group is to expand the repertoire of functional intergenic lncRNAs and establish their contributions to homeostasis and disease.

I am currently looking for highly motivated PhD student to work on a multidisciplinary project aiming to investigate the molecular mechanisms of miRNA-dependent regulation of gene expression by intergenic lncRNAs.

The successful candidate will combine experimental and computational genomics approaches and will investigate the interplay between miRNAs and intergenic lncRNAs.
Experience with RNA and embryonic stem cell culture and/or programming/statistics is considered a plus. Applicant must have a Master degree and be proficient in English.

The 4-year PhD studentship is available from the 1st of March 2016 and is fully funded. The successful candidate will benefit from extensive training in genomics and RNA biology.
