About the Project

This PhD project will involve the synthesis and characterisation of a variety of complex polymers and copolymers by living anionic polymerization and will be carried out in collaboration with (and jointly funded by) Synthomer Ltd. As such, opportunities will arise to gain experience of working in an industrial setting within the R&D labs of Synthomer at Harlow.

Applicants should have an interest in working at the interface of organic chemistry and polymer chemistry and have (or expect to obtain) at least the equivalent of a U.K. 2.i honours degree in chemistry, natural sciences or a relevant scientific discipline.

Funding Notes

The studentship will cover tuition fees and an annual maintenance grant but please note that due to funding restrictions this position is only open to UK and EU applicants.
