Dr Sarah Harris  Applications accepted all year round

About the Project

This is an EPSRC CASE award with the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to use high performance computer simulation and NMR experiments to study the importance of entropy changes on the recognition of proteins by drug molecules. You would be working closely with Dr Sarah Harris on computer simulations of protein/drug interactions, which will be complemented by experimental studies of drug flexibility. You will also have additional supervisors from industry, and from the biochemical sciences. This highly multidisciplinary project is appropriate for students with a background in physics, chemistry or biology, but prior knowledge of statistical mechanics, soft matter physics, computer simulation and basic biochemistry would be an advantage.
