About the Project

2nd Superviosr: M Probert

We offer one fully funded Ph.D. position in the area of high-pressure and ultra-low temperature crystallography of pharmaceutical compounds and biological molecules. High-pressure studies are important to probe the conformational energy landscape of molecules. Combining the results with ultra-low temperature high-resolution experiments to determine experimental electrostatic potential (EEP) will be used to increase our understanding of protein-ligand interactions. The position requires the ability to work in an interdisciplinary area with the opportunity to visit and perform experiments at national facilities such as Diamond Light Source. The project will provide extensive training in all aspects of crystallography ranging from theoretical aspects to protein crystallography. The candidate should have an upper second degree in natural sciences with a particular interest in methods and/or physical basis of structural sciences.
