About the Project

As part of the FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network EuTRiPD: European Training and Research in Peritoneal Dialysis, Cardiff University School of Medicine invites applications for Marie Curie ESR fellowships that will provide broad–based inter-sectoral training and engagement in research leading to the award of a PhD. This will provide the opportunity to work in the laboratories of the consortiums other partners and with our industrial partners across Europe. This program will include both local and international training courses (provided by the consortium and its affiliates, The Dutch Kidney Foundation, Kidney Research UK and EuroPD) and secondments to other laboratories and industrial partners (Baxter Healthcare, Abbot and Zytoprotect).

The EuTRiPD network will provide a unique opportunity for a total of 12 researchers in early stages of their careers to study emerging research topics in the field of Peritoneal Dialysis and receive training to enhance their research skills, under the prestigious FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN).

The fellows to be recruited to Cardiff University School of Medicine will be employed under full-time fixed-term contracts with full social security coverage and all benefits in accordance to Marie Curie ITN fellowship regulations (highly competitive remuneration plus allowances for living and mobility expenses). Early Stage Researchers will register to read for a PhD degree in Cardiff University through the Doctoral Programme of this University. The duration of the fellowships is 36 months full time study.

Research activities will be carried out at the premises of Cardiff University School of Medicine (UK) in close collaboration with the partners in theEuTRiPD network. The fellow will spend 4-6 months visiting one of the EuTRiPD’s collaborating partners and will participate in a private sector secondment.

The fellow will join the semi-annual EuTRiPD Academy and will perform their individual research projects in Cardiff University studying aspects of peritoneal immunity and its relationship to patient outcomes in Peritoneal Dialysis.

These posts are open to both science graduates or Masters students as well as Medically qualified individuals. The projects will be multidisciplinary and will involve the analysis of data from patient cohorts. These fellowships will be highly competitive and candidates will need to present evidence of a broad based training and their potential to use their acquired knowledge to contribute to the success of this research.

Shortlisting will be based on the submission of a CV and a personal statement of intent. Final selection will be based on an interview (Skype) and the fit with the overall program.
