An Industrially sponsored PhD studentship is available for a well-qualified candidate to develop new nanocatalysts for the clean chemical synthesis of valuable specialty chemicals and sustainable bio-fuels within the Cardiff Catalysis Institute.

The research project will involve inorganic materials synthesis, surface science and organic reactions to deliver new nanotechnologies for sustainable biofuels production, and selective oxidation and hydrogenation chemistry for pharmaceuticals manufacture.

The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic team within the Cardiff Catalysis Institute, gaining hands-on training and expertise in advanced analytical instrumentation including XPS, XAS, GC-MS and high-resolution TEM, and travelling to international research centres and overseas conferences during their studentships.
