About the Project

Colloidal Synthesis and Assembly of Semiconductor Nanorods. In particular, the candidates will work on modification and optimization of recently developed routes to copper indium gallium sulfide (CIGS), Copper indium selenide (CIS) and Copper zinc tin tetrasulphide (CZTS) nanocrystals. In addition extension to other ternary and quaternary materials will be investigated.See J. Am. Chem. Soc 134, 2910, 2012 for examples of recent work or www.ifnano.com for full listing. Application of ternary and quatenary as photovoltaic absorber layers will also be investigated. Candidate should have a background in chemistry or materials science with experimental experience in synthesis an advantage. Full access to HRSEM, HRTEM, XRD, XPS and AFM are available at the institute and candidates will be trained to use these instruments during the course of the PhD. Position is available for 4 years with generous stipend (tax free in Ireland) and full fees paid please email [Email Address Removed] for details
