About the Project
E-Tourism research is in its infancy yet the pace of technological development and user adoption makes this a dynamic field. The rapid adoption of mobile computing tools (e.g. smart phones) is leading to new tourism practices that challenge traditional concepts of tourist planning behaviour. This presents a moment of transition where new conceptual understandings are needed. Based on emerging mobile computing capabilities, intelligent tools can provide optimal visiting plans and routes to attractions and activities relative to the tourist’s location and temporal constraints. Such plans should be agile and dynamic depending on weather, cost parameters and tourist’s profiles etc.
