Application Deadline:
No more applications being accepted
Funding Availability:
Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

3 Year PhD sponsored by Lubrizol US in Cleveland. The work involves surface modification of polymers to give new properties and applications. The work involves the use of living radical polymerisation including SET LRP with a range of different monomers. This person will join our team working in collaboration with Lubrizol and will have regular interaction with industrial scientists in the US and the UK. The successful applicant will be required to work in a team and to present at industry meetings regularly. The work will involve organic and polymer synthesis and training in all polymer characterisation including NMR, MALDI and ESI MS, DSC, TGA, GC, etc.

Funding Notes:

The project is fully funded and will pay EU fees and a stipend of £13,590 pa (tax free)

Applicants should have (or be about to receive) an honours degree (at least II.1 or equivalent and a Master’s degree is preferred) in chemistry, or other relevant discipline, and should have an interest in synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry and characterisation including NMR, GPC, DSC etc. These studentships provide funding only for UK/EU students.
