About the Project

We would welcome research proposals that draw on theoretical literature from the disciplines of psychology, sport psychology, sociology and other social sciences. The focus should be on understanding the psychological factors associated with sport performance; this can be directed more specifically at the role of coaches, managers and other support staff, and/or consider the experience of the athlete. We are particularly keen to receive proposals that adopt a broad perspective and examine sport performance within the context of organisational processes and culture. Our expertise includes an interest in applying a wide variety of qualitative methods both in terms of data collection procedures and forms of analysis and representation. Additionally, we are especially interested in research that aims to understand applied practice issues including effectiveness of sport psychology delivery, alternative approaches to sport psychology support work and training and education of the profession.
