She obtained her PhD in Computational Mathematics from the Keldysh Institute for Applied Mathematics, Russian Academy of Science, Moscow, Russia, in 1995, and holds an MSci in Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics from the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Moscow, Russia, which she completed in 1991. Dr Petrovskaya is a member of the Optimisation and Numerical Analysis Group and has extensive research experience in applied numerical analysis and computer simulation of complex biological, physical, and engineering problems. Her research primarily focuses on the design of non-conventional numerical algorithms for computational problems where standard numerical methods are ineffective due to problem complexity, with recent applications in mathematical ecology. Dr Petrovskaya is also interested in supervising doctoral research students in mathematical and computational ecology.
Dr Natalia Petrovskaya''s research focuses on applied numerical analysis and computer simulation of complex biological, physical, and engineering problems. Her interests primarily involve the design of non-conventional numerical algorithms for computational problems where standard numerical methods are ineffective due to problem complexity. Recent applications of her research include mathematical ecology, particularly in the context of invasive species propagation and ecological modelling. She is also interested in supervising doctoral research students in mathematical and computational ecology.
