About the Project
A post-graduate position, leading to the award of a M.Sc., is available for a highly motivated and enthusiastic student to look at the role of adherent-invasive Escherichia coli (AIEC) and the inflammasome in Crohn’s disease. A range of cellular, molecular and biochemical techniques will be used during this project and we are looking for a candidate with a suitable background in these areas. This research will take place in the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre (APC) located in University College Cork (http://apc.ucc.ie). The successful candidate will be part of the research team in Research Theme 4 “Host-Microbe dialogue” that examines the interaction between the microbiota and host-inflammatory responses in intestinal health and disease. The position is for 2 years and, in addition to paying fees, comes with a stipend of €18,000 per year. Applicants will be accepted on an on-going basis until the position is filled.
The applicant should have a B.Sc. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Biotechnology/Microbiology, or related discipline (2H1 minimum standard).
Applications (as a single PDF) should include a covering letter, a detailed CV and the names of 2 referees and should be sent (by email) to either: Dr David Clarke ([Email Address Removed]) or Dr Silvia Melgar ([Email Address Removed]).
