Search Help

Basic Searching

Location - The first drop-down menu allows you to search for projects by geographical location. Firstly select a region, then a new option will become available allowing you to narrow your search further by choosing a specific institution within that region.

Keyword - Enter your search terms in this freetext box to search through Project Title, Description and Supervisor Name.

Search terms can be combined by 'AND' or 'OR'. Wild cards * can also be used to match parts of words, e.g. Staphylococc* would search for Staphylococcus, Staphylococcal and Staphylococci.

Discipline - Tick the checkboxes to select one or more discliplines to search through.

Advanced Searching

The advanced search form allows you to narrow your search by selecting sub-disciplines. Simply click on each discipline heading to view its sub-disciplines. A magnifying glass icon is displayed to show which disciplines you are searching. If all checkboxes are left blank, the entire database is searched.

PhD Funding Key- Research Projects

Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

This research project has funding attached. Applications for this project are welcome from suitably qualified candidates worldwide. Funding may only be available to a limited set of nationalities and you should read the full department and project details for further information.

Competition Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

This research project is one of a number of projects at this institution. It is in competition for funding with one or more of these projects. Usually the project which receives the best applicant will be awarded the funding. Applications for this project are welcome from suitably qualified candidates worldwide.
