The new III Department comprises 35 academic members of staff, 15 postdoctoral fellows, 86 graduate students and 35 other support staff. It receives substantial support from BBSRC, MRC, Wellcome Trust, European Union, Medical Research Charities, Health authorities and various industrial sources. The main research areas are all expanding and include: Molecular Aspects of Microbial Pathogenicity; Virology; Immunology; Reproductive Immunology; Innate Immunity; Structure and Function of Macromolecules; Environmental Microbiology; Industrial Microbiology; Child Health, Lung Health and Renal Medicine
