Functional characterisation of targets of the FGF signalling pathway

Signalling by Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) has multiple roles in vertebrate embryogenesis and the regulation of embryonic stem cell differentiation. Mis-regulation of FGF signalling is involved in the development of a range of inherited diseases and is implicated in cancer formation. We have used a microarray based screen to identify transcriptional targets of FGF signaling. We plan to use various approaches to the inhibition of gene function in order to determine the role of these target genes in mediating the activity of FGF signals during development and stem cell differentiation.

Funding Notes
This research project is one of a number of projects in the department. It is in competition for funding with the other projects. Usually the project which receives the best applicant will be awarded the funding. The funding is available to citizens of a number of European countries (including the UK). In most cases this will include all EU nationals. However full funding may not be available to all applicants.
