The cost of completing a PhD varies dramatically in different countries around the world. Some destinations are more expensive for international students, but others charge very little for PhD study (in fact, a few charge almost nothing). In some parts of the world, meanwhile, it's common for PhD researchers to be paid as staff, whereas students elsewhere rely on more traditional scholarships and studentships.
