Over 80 PhD scholarships in Science and Technology
The Faculty of Science and Technology is made up of seven departments engaged in world-leading research that makes a significant contribution to the economy and society. You will benefit from the high levels of expertise on offer from across the following departments:
- Chemistry
- Engineering
- Lancaster Environment Centre
- Mathematics and Statistics
- Physics
- Psychology
- School of Computing and Communications
Our scholarships provide full tuition fees, a generous stipend and access to a research training grant.
UK/EU and overseas applicants have the opportunity to apply for Faculty funded scholarships, where you will be matched up with the relevant expertise from across one or more of our departments.
UK/EU applicants may wish to apply for an externally funded scholarship, offered by prestigious research councils such as the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). These specific scholarships provide researchers with the opportunity to work with the established STOR-I and Graphene NOWNANO Doctoral Training Centres, or to be part of the newly created NERC funded Envision Doctoral Training Partnership.

In the recent 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), Lancaster is ranked 18th in the UK for overall research. The Faculty of Science and Technology has over 80% of its research assessed as world-leading and internationally excellent.
