IAPETUS DTP NERC Studentships

In partnership with the IAPETUS (NERC) consortium Newcastle University we are inviting applications to IAPETUS CASE Studentship competition from Home/European Union candidates with the relevant qualifications.

IAPETUS is the North East of England’s and Scotland’s multidisciplinary Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) for the environmental sciences funded and accredited by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), in a united approach to doctoral research and training the next generation of leaders in the science of the natural environment.

IAPETUS CASE Studentships cover:

• Full payment of tuition fees
• A stipend of 14,000/year (UK residents only)
• Access to extensive research support funding and facilities provided by both Newcastle University & the Industry partner
• A wide range of technical and general skills training.

(1APN07) Pests and pest control in gardens: Slugs and snails (School of Biology & Royal Horticultural Society)

(1APN09) Socio-ecological indicators for sustainable management of shark populations (School of Marine Science & Banyan Tree Marine Lab)

(IAPN11) Development of spatial and temporal tools to assess drivers for odontocete occurrence and behaviour in offshore windfarm developments (School of Marine Science & EDF Energy)

(IAPN12) Developing a suite of cost-effective remote sensing methods for habitat monitoring of Zostera sp. in Lindisfarne, Northumberland (School of Marine Science & Natural England)

(IAPN13) Extreme flooding in River Tyne catchment: the hidden sediment story (School of Geography & Environment Agency, Tyne Rivers Trust and NWL)

(IAPN14) Ensuring consumer trust in nutritional quality of sustainable vegetables and fruit through innovative post-harvest techniques (School of Agriculture, Food & Rural Development & Leeds University)

The closing date for applications is 16th June 2017. Please note these projects are part of a funding competition and the outcome of your application will not be confirmed until the 3rd July 2017.
