Human face recognition/perception

Applications are invited for a funded full-time PhD studentship available for UK/EU citizens to work in the Face Research Lab with Professor Peter Hancock. The lab is involved with the FACER2VM project (https://facer2vm.org/), where the aim is to improve the state of the art in computer face recognition ‘in the wild’. We have two postdocs working on aspects of human face recognition. The topic for the studentship is open, within the general area of face recognition/perception. I have another studentship starting at the same time. That one might be more computational in character; this one could also be as computational as the successful applicant wishes, in which case some existing facility with programming, e.g. in Matlab or Python, would be beneficial. One of the studentships will be funded by the Dylis Crabtree scholarship, for which preference will be given to female applicants.
