The sub-lethal impact of pesticides on foraging in bumblebees - linking landscape-scale behaviour change to molecular and physiological responses to understand the mechanism & mitigate its effects
University of Sheffield
School of Computer Science
The focus of the PhD is to understand the effects of pesticides on bees from a physiological perspective (differential gene-expression, metabolomics) and connecting this to behavioural changes in the field, by using a new landscape-scale tracking system, that allows us to track the bee as it forages, and record behaviour using an accelerometer.
