As part of our ongoing commitment to research, we are offering 16 studentships for a range of fully-funded research projects in the arts and humanities, life and physical sciences, and the social sciences, for entry in 2014.
Each studentship is worth £60,000 and will support full-time doctoral study over a three-year period. These 16 studentships are just one element in a range of postgraduate research funding opportunities.

Centres for Doctoral Training
Brighton is a partner within three newly approved Centres for Doctoral Training, two funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (TECHNE and Design Star) and one by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (SEAHA, Science and Engineering in Arts, Heritage and Archaeology).

Over the last five years we have committed over £10M to initiatives in support of research. By being innovative and managing strategically we have enriched our research environment, balancing discipline-based research with more flexible, cross-cutting interdisciplinary strands of research enquiry.

Each studentship is worth at least £60,000 over three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
For UK/EU students this comprises £4,530 per year (for three years) to cover annual tuition fees and a contribution towards living expenses of £15,470 per year (for three years). For suitable students from outside of the UK/EU the funding will comprise £13,840 per year (for three years) to cover annual international tuition fees and a contribution towards living expenses of £6,160 per year (for three years).
The contribution available towards living costs will rise annually in line with inflation. The value of the studentship will also be raised to take into account any rise in annual tuition fees.
