Global reputation and research excellence

Graduate life at York

  • Our beautiful campus is located just outside York city centre and offers world-class teaching and learning spaces and an excellent environment to live and learn.
  • York is regularly named the best place to live in the UK, and is the city with the lowest rates of crime mostly likely to affect students in the areas they live during term time in England and Wales, according to the The Complete University Guide 2019.
  • We offer an excellent range of accommodation on or close to campus.
  • York is one of only a few UK universities to have a collegiate system, offering students the benefits of belonging to both the University as a whole and to a smaller college community.
  • Postgraduate students can become members of the postgraduate-only Wentworth College, a hub for postgraduate activity.
  • Our network of support services, such as the Student Hub provides easy access to help and support.
  • The Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) offers confidential, specialist advice to all postgraduate students. They also run regular social and sporting events and a number of postgraduate networks.
