We‘ve taken a look at all the Italian universities that have been featured in the Times Higher Education Global University Employability Rankings 2022.

#1 Bocconi University

Bocconi University offers a number of PhD programmes in areas like Economics, Business Administration and Statistics. PhD graduates from the university have gone on to work in academia at world-renowned institutions like Boston University and London School of Economics, among many others. If you’re looking for a non-academic career, many graduates have also found jobs at institutions like the World Bank and HSBC after a PhD from Bocconi University.

#2 Politecnico di Milano

As Italy’s largest technical university, Politecnico di Milano offers PhD programmes in Engineering, Architecture and Design. 33% of PhD graduates are able to find work within a month of completing their course. Companies like Pirelli, Armani and Stantec, among others, have hired graduates from Politecnico di Milano

#3 Sapienza University of Rome

Sapienza University of Rome is one of the largest universities in Europe and offers postgraduate degrees across 63 departments. The university supports students in taking up both curricular and extracurricular internships during their studies to gain work experience. They do this through a designated online job portal and regular recruitment days. EY and Generali Italia Spa, to name a few, are popular companies that have hired Sapienza University of Rome graduates.

#4 University of Bologna

With a 79% employment rate, The University of Bologna is the fourth best university in Italy for graduate employability. One of the reasons for its reputation is the Job Placement wing of the university which supports students in finding the right job for them during their studies or after graduating. Students from the University of Bologna have gone on to work at institutions like Disney+ and Doctors Without Borders among many others.

#5 Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa

The only postgraduate qualification awarded by the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa is the PhD. There are PhDs available in History, Physics and Political Science, among others. The Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa has a 93% employment rate for its PhD graduates! The university also encourages students to take up internships during their studies to gain work experience. The Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa along with five other Italian schools host the JOBFair where PhD students can meet with prospective employers.
